I created this in-camera blur at Longwood Gardens during my “Christmas Spectacular Workshop”. The place is jam-packed with Poinsettias of every color and variety. These ruffled edge Poinsettias have always appealed to me ever since I first saw them years ago. I used a camera movement with a slightly swirled motion to create the original. Then I processed it with Nik Color Efex Bleach Bypass filter to help me create a Victorian look. I added several rounds of unsharp mask and a find edges layer blend to create the crackled look that you see. I also finished it off with the Topaz Simplify BuzSim filter at approx. 30% opacity. To learn more about creating in-camera blurs see “A Guide to Pleasing Blurs” that I co-authored with Arthur Morris.

Truly a stunning piece you have here Denise! From the corners, the sides, and right into the middle, my eyes takes it all in very easy and gives me plenty to look at and to study. Excellent!
Michael, Thank you very much. Your “Silent Whispers” Series is outstanding!!
Love the bleached layered look that retains four separate poinsettias. Very creative, as always, Denise. PLUS you took the time to explain exactly how you did it. This is at least as important as the final image itself, a continuing part of your photo-educational contributions.
Absolutely beautifull Denise. Thank you kindly for the explanation.
Keith, Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them as always.
