Sunflowers ~ NJ
I started off my morning at this beautiful Sunflower farm in New Jersey. I arrived just before sunrise. A hint of fog was in the air and I was excited to set up. The early morning was peaceful and I had the entire field to myself. I spent hours capturing a variety of images. I couldn’t get enough. I used my fisheye lens (I will share some of those images in a later post), my 24-105mm lens and my 100mm Macro lens. I brought a step stool and tripod. The farmer told me that he has another crop about two weeks behind this one so I may get a chance to go again.

This is an in-camera blur with a small crop from the top. I love the way they look wind-tossed. 1/8 sec. at f/22 ISO 50

Same settings as above but with more camera movement applied for a more abstract look. To learn more about creating pleasing blurs check out my “Guide to Pleasing Blurs” that I co-authored with Arthur Morris.

This image is an in-camera blur that I did some slight touch up work to. It had a couple of empty spaces in what I would consider the wrong spots.

A beautiful selection of sunflower images. I especially like the second image with the mist on the hills in the backround. Lovely!
What a great photo op….I also think the second image is terrific.
Nice pictures Denise, My favorite is the first one.
Denise, these are all wonderful. I love the fractalius one best. I have a real knack for finding sunflower crops after the blooms have withered away.
These are all fantastic Denise! I think #2 is actually my favorite!
A beautiful series Denise. I can’t pick a favorite. I love them all.
Really like the last one.
Wow, great shots, Denise! Our sunflowers are a few weeks behind yours. I’m looking forward to some photo opportunities, too. Your work inspires me!
Beautiful Denise! My favorite is #2. The fog adds a nice touch and the many visual layers as you move vertically thru the image.
Absolutely lovely pictures Denise. I come to think of Vincent van Gogh and his paintings.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments.
Denise, These were all a treat to see. No way that I can pick a favorite.
Wonderful set of images, Denise. I’ve never seen so many sunflowers at once. Really gorgeous.
Hi Patti and Jimi, Thanks so much!
More fodder for your incredible creativity. My fave–by just a bit–is the Fract
.
Thanks Artie, I think my favorite is the first blur.
Great images Denise. Never knew there was a sunflower farm in NJ (I grew up there). I think I like the Fractalius one the best although they are all excellent.
Len, It’s a small world
I love your recent blog image from Alaska!
You hit the jackpot on this one Denise! Great images and creative adventures!
