The above image is a single image Psuedo HDR processed in Photomatix Pro. I then applied a very faint amount of Topaz Simplify. For the original capture I used a circular polarizer and my 5D, 6 sec at f/22, ISO 100, 40mm, Tripod mounted.

  1. Intriguingly beautiful. I urge everyone to check out the large version. Looks like a painting by an Old Master.

Thank you Artie and thank you for urging me to take a small slice off the bottom :)

Wow! I love it. Nothing like cotton candy water contrasting with colored leaves. Great composition, too, of course.

Did you take the photo this year? I know it’s fairly far north in Pennsylvania, but we’re just beginning to get decent color in southeastern Michigan. Also — in hopes of passing close enough to stop there during a future trip eastward — I googled the park and saw comments from several people that it’s closed until 2012. Of course, we might not get there until then …

Thank you Dennis, I took this image last year. There are several different angles for this one, none of which required getting in the water. I heard it was closed until 2012 also.

After looking again, I have another question. Did you have to wade out into the water to get that shot?

Dennis, It required a short walk down to the bottom area of the falls, no water crossing or wading required :)

Now, this is very pretty and I love how you processed. It has a very dreamy look to it.

Hi Nancy, good to hear from you. Thank you kindly :)

Great image Denise, the water looks like spun silk.

    Hi Richard, Thank you kindly!

  6. Denise, that is one beautiful waterfall and your processing of it is awesome. I went to two waterfalls today for fall color and got thoroughly soaked in the rain doing so. Neither were as nice as this one. What a treat to get home from a miserable wet, rainy day to see this beauty!

Thank you Andrew, coming from a waterfall expert I will take that as a huge compliment :)

  7. Hi Denise, Very nice work on the waterfall. I agree about viewing the larger image – looks even better!! I like that park, and many of the others in the area.

Scott, thanks so much. I am looking forward to the Skyline workshop in a couple of days!!

Hi Denise, Beautiful shot of these falls. I was there once last summer but there were a ton of kids swimming in all the pools. Planned on going back in the fall but never made it. Maybe next year.
