    Like ‘em both.

The cooler one has a darker feel. The warmer one seems more ethereal.

Mary, Thanks so much for commenting. I’m looking forward to Sunday!

    I like them both, too.

In my own work, I normally tend toward warmer tones. However, pink and green is a great color combination, so I’m giving a nod to the cooler one.

    Dennis, I couldn’t agree more.:)

I think the second image with the warmer tones definitely has more “pop” and more depth to it, and in my opinion is the better of the two photos.

Hi Richard, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. Hope you’ve been well. I’m sure I’ll see you guys in the field.

Hi Denise. As presented, I like the cooler toned image; as mentioned above, the green in the background compliments the image, while the background turns a brown, almost murky color in the warmer toned image. BUT…(there’s always a second thought with me…you know that! *grin*)…I agree with Richard’s comment that the warmer toned image has more pop in the petals of the mum. I’d be tempted to paint the warmer tones onto a layer for the petals.

Hey John, How have you been? Hope your trip was great. I do like them both so it’s a hard call. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Wow, what a difference between the two. When I scroll the screen so I am only looking at one of the images at a time, I find that I like the warmer image better. I think that is has to do with the emotional context of blossoms for me. That said, I think both are terrific! :)

Thanks so much Ted, I’ve really been enjoying your recent posts.

    Hi Denise,

I really like both images, but if I had to choose it would be the warmer one for me ~:0)

First off, beautiful shot regardless. Individually they are both really good, but put up against each other, I gotta say the cooler appeals to me, but its a tough choice.

Hi Jan, Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

  9. First, both are beautiful images Denise. I’d have to go with the cooler one. I guess that it goes back to film days when I was taught to burn my edges to draw the attention to the subject. Since then I’ve preferred to have darker backgrounds in my images like this. However, I like John’s idea about adding some warmth to the petals. It’s hard to explain, and maybe it’s just me, but when I look at the second image, I find my eyes drifting past the subject to the bottom of the image. However, with the top image I’m not fighting my eyes to stay on the subject.

Hi Phillip, Thank you for sharing your insight.
