LeHardy Rapids ~ Yellowstone NP

I really liked the dark moody colors that are intertwined with the orange and blue tones. I also liked the highlights and chose to leave some of them. I never add a border but for some reason I felt the border helped contain the composition.

Just love it! It has a great combination of peace and power–nicely done.
Hi Alex and welcome to my blog. I appreciate the kind words. I took a few shots like this from the boat in Alaska and plan on sharing a few soon!

Beautifully seen and captured. Thanks for sharing your special place with me. (We got some good bird stuff there too.)
Thanks Art, I really enjoyed doing the water blurs there and the dippers were great too!

Beautiful flow and such complementary colours. The border holds it in neatly.
Thanks Andy, I appreciate it!

Denise, this is a great water blur only made better by the setting sun. I could shoot these all day long.
Thank you Andrew, I evicted a couple of highlights from the top but decided to keep the rest.

I love the darker tones, and I agree with you on the frame. It keeps you from flowing off the page. Great image!

Very nice and pleasing to the eye. What filter or technique did you use to achieve the blur?
Hi Ken, Welcome to my blog and thank you for the kind words. I didn’t use any filter on the lens, just a slow shutter speed for the blur. In post processing I just added some contrast and adjusted the saturation. This is pretty much straight out of camera.
