Today was my Cairnwood Estates Workshop. Some members of the Lehigh Valley Photography Club and the Main Line Camera Club attended as well as some others. All in all it was a great day of fun and photography. I met some really nice folks and had the chance to shoot with some folks I already knew. We created HDR images both inside and outside of the estate. I was impressed by the creativity and eagerness of the group. We spent time also creating pleasing zoom blurs. Below are a couple of my favorite blurs that I created. The first one is a candelabra against some ornate wallpaper. To create the effect I used a one second exposure along with my 24-105mm zoom lens. To process the image I used a texture technique in the Render Lighting Filter in Photoshop, which I cover in detail in my “Guide to Creative Filters and Effects“. The second image is a hand held 10 second blur of the Christmas Tree that adorned the entrance. The crazy look of the lights appealed to me. I also used a soft green color overlay to add to the softness. To learn more about creating pleasing blurs you can sign up for my On-line Blur course or check out my “Guide to Pleasing Blurs” that I co-wrote with Arthur Morris. I will be giving my slide show/lecture “A Blend of Art and Nature” to the Lehigh Valley Photography Club on March 15th 2012 at 7:00 pm.
