Snow Geese at Middle Creek in Eastern Pennsylvania

I plan on photographing flocks of Snow Geese at the Middle Creek WMA in Kleinfeltersville, Pennsylvania ~ Come join me for a day of fun!

All are invited to join me March 1st in eastern Pennsylvania at the Middle Creek WMA located in Kleinfeltersville, Pennsylvania to photograph Snow Geese flocks- approx 100,000 are expected to be there. Just head in on the main road. The fields on your left usually have abundant geese. Check out the tour route at stop 3. You can also walk to the lake along the trail that’s accessible from the first parking lot on your left. I’ve heard it’s good both morning and afternoon. I plan to be there all day with a short break for lunch. Please stop and say hi if you go. The Visitor Center is worth going into for refuge maps, etc. Tundra swans and other migrating waterfowl may also be seen there. Last year officials estimated 80,000 geese were present on March 1st. Denise, You will enjoy shooting at Middle Creek! If you are up for very early shooting there can be some beautiful pre-dawn and sunrise shots there. There is a good place to pull off of Kleinfeltersville Road, on the lake side, to shoot the sunrise over the lake. The first shot in my Middle Creek Gallery was about an hour before sunrise on March 8th. It was about 18°F that morning. Enjoy!

Ken, I plan to be there for pre-dawn, thanks so much for the info. Hopefully you and Dorothy will be able to make it out there :)

  6. Denise,
Will try to make it, its in my calendar. Maybe we should try to do a group dinner the night before? I suspect most people will want to stay over Wed night so as soon as you have hotel info, let me know unless you are driving from home at oh dark thirty on Thursday morning?

Vincent great idea. I never even thought about it but staying over makes very good sense. I will repost this again as we get closer to the date along with Hotel details as soon as I get some. If anyone has any hotel info or suggestions please feel free to chime in, thanks :)

Enjoy, my first time experience photographing snow geese this year. Ducks, geese and gulls numbers exceed 100,000. . Every November they migrate at Reservoir Beaudet in Victoriaville, Quebec. Truly an amazing experience.
Wishing you a Happy New Year.

Sylvia, Happy New Year to you too. I hope you’ll join us this March, thanks for the info. :)

Hey Denise, I like the idea of a hotel stay the night before. Besides a group dinner we can also head over together in the early morning. Since I’ve not been there before grouping appeals to me!

Kate, It is a good idea, I’ll see what I can find out :)
