The SpiderPro Single Camera System is a great way to have your camera at your finger tips without the fuss of a strap. I like the quick release and the locking system that they have used to make this holster. The sturdy well made system uses a pin to connect to your camera and I recommend that you tighten it down with a wrench to make sure it is secure. It fits comfortably on my hip and lets me be hands free. I like that I don’t have a strap over my shoulder. When carrying my 500mm lens on a tripod having the holster for my second body is much more comfortable then having it strapped to my neck. The company offers a dual holster for carrying two cameras at the same time. (I don’t know anything about that though)Visit Spider Camera Holster’s website to see a quick video clip and to learn more about these great holsters. I do still have and use my Black Rapids RS-7 Strap that I love so much. I am using it when I carry my 100-400mm lens and my 24-105mm lens which seems to be very often.
The SpiderPro Single Camera System is the one I chose because it handles my Canon 100-400mm lens safely and easily. As a nature photographer having quick easy access to your camera makes a world of difference. I know that Outdoor Photo Gear has the SpiderPro available. Again I make no $$ from this endorsement. I just love this holster and I have added it to my gear list so I thought that I would pass on the info.

Hi Denise: I have the Black Rapid and the Spider Pro Single. When you use the 100-400 and the 24-105 combo –do you have the 24-105 on the Black Rapid or just on its regular camera strap on neck? When you are walking around with these ,where do you carry your extra”stuff” (phone, $$, ID etc. etc. ) — in a waste pack, backpack (and set it down to work) or vest (which I find impossible to use with either the BR or Spider Pro. ) Guys don’t seems to have as much extra to carry around as I do. Any photog-gal help will be appreciated. Thanks, and keep up your great blog.

Hi Carol and welcome to my blog. I don’t use the regular camera straps at all. I find them annoying. I use the Black Rapid RS-7 for my 24-105mm and the SpiderPro holster for my 100-400mm. I carry my extra stuff in a small waist pouch almost all the time unless I am going to a place that I can bring my Ekla Gear Cart-then I just load it up! I also have a Kata Bag (the one I have is a little different but mine has been discontinued)Shoulder Bag KT DL-LP-60. It allows me to carry lots of extra stuff and the strap is long enough to go over one shoulder. I use it depending on where I’m going or what I’m doing. The problem for me with backpacks is I always have to take them off to grab something out of them and I don’t like that.

Thanks for this Denise. I’ve actually been eyeing the spider holster. I bought the Black Rapid before I went to Italy last summer and used it there but I didn’t find it that comfortable I think maybe because I didn’t have it adjusted properly. Or perhaps I should say I didn’t know how to adjust it properly. Anyway I’ve been thinking about the spider have just been worried about how secure it is.

Edith, Thanks for the tweet! It seems to be very secure. It has a lock on it and you can leave it locked or unlocked. I haven’t used it extensively but I plan to. It is well built and the one that I have supports my 100-400mm lens no problem. I used it the other day and I was not uncomfortable or worried about my lens and/or camera.
