I visited Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida yesterday. I am working on putting together a 3 day workshop in alliance with the gardens for the fall of 2012. I have visited the gardens before with Art Morris when he had his exhibit there last year. I found a great new hotel to stay at that is nearby. We should have a huge variety of flowers to photograph this fall as well as the beautiful bell tower that graces the gardens. Follow the link above to learn more about this exciting place. To be put on the interested list for the workshop please shoot me an e-mail.

White Pelicans ~ Southwest IPT w/ Art Morris
1/5 sec. at f/36, ISO 50, Canon 1D Mark III , 100-400mm Lens handheld. I liked the way the wind tossed their feathers as they swam away. The black feathers were appealing to me so I waited until they swam away again and created this blur.

White Pelican ~ Southwest IPT w/ Art Morris
1/20 sec. at f/36, ISO 50, Canon 1D Mark III , 100-400mm Lens handheld.

While co-leading for Art Morris on the first couple of days of his IPT (Instructional Photo Tour) I captured a few pleasing blurs while photographing from a pier. To learn more about creating pleasing blurs check out my eBook “A Guide to Pleasing Blurs” that I co-authored with Art Morris.

High Key Palm Tree ~ Southwest IPT w/ Art Morris
1/8 sec. at f/22, ISO 50, Canon 1D Mark III, Canon 100-400mm lens handheld. I intentional created the high-key effect in-camera by slightly overexposing the image, using a 1/8 sec. shutter speed along with the blowing wind helped to create the effect.
