Leaf with Snap Art 3 Filter

The original image was photographed at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida. If you’ve never been to the gardens I urge you to go. The Tower alone is enough to draw folks there. The wonderful sound of bells flowing through the gardens really made me feel a sense of peace while I was photographing. Along with being voted Florida’s best garden it is also a Historic Landmark. The meandering garden is one of the greatest achievements of famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr.
To create the effect on the leaf image above I used Alien Skins Snap Art 3 Plug-in and chose the Oil Paint> Abstract-Thick Paint setting. With a layer mask I reduced the effect of the filter in some areas. Then with Nik Color Efex Pro 4 (use the code BAA to save 15%) I added the Glamour Glow Filter which is one of my favorites in the program. To finish it off I added a touch of Unsharp Mask in Photoshop to define the brush strokes a little more. To learn more about creative filtering check out one of my my eBooks “A Guide to Creative Filters and Effects”or “Bloomin’ Ideas”.

Wonderful Denise….
Thank you Nancy
Absolutely magnificent . . . I think Snap Art and Color Efex are two of the best plug-ins going, and you use them so well. Thanks for sharing your processing information.
