I plan on photographing flocks of Snow Geese at the Middle Creek WMA in Kleinfeltersville, Pennsylvania ~ Come join me for a day of fun!
All are invited to join me March 3rd ( I changed the date from the original March 1st date because so many folks asked if I could make it on the weekend due to their work schedules) in eastern Pennsylvania at the Middle Creek WMA located in Kleinfeltersville, Pennsylvania to photograph Snow Geese flocks- approx 100,000 are expected to be there. Just head in on the main road. The fields on your left usually have abundant geese. Check out the tour route at stop 3. You can also walk to the lake along the trail that’s accessible from the first parking lot on your left. I’ve heard it’s good both morning and afternoon. I plan to be there all day with a short break for lunch. Please stop and say hi if you go. The Visitor Center is worth going into for refuge maps, etc. Tundra swans and other migrating waterfowl may also be seen there. Last year officials estimated 80,000 geese were present on March 1st. Official website. (717) 733-1512.
I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express listed below. I will be checking in Friday March 2nd in the afternoon and plan to get to the refuge for the evening shoot. I’d love to meet anyone that is staying over for dinner on Friday night. Email me if you are planning on going so I know to contact you with where we will be having dinner. I am not familiar with the area so if anyone has suggestions that would be great!

Sorry, I will miss you. I’ve made arrangements to be there March 1. Do you have a Route number or street address for the entrance? Each time I search for Middle Creek WMA, a different result is returned.
Craig, Sorry for the date change but most folks simply could not take off of work. Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area P.O. Box 110. Kleinfeltersville, PA 17039 (717) 733-1512. http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/middle_creek/13905

Hi Denise: I did reserve the “date” of March 1st (basically was planning to do a vacation day, etc.) – but I believe I can make Saturday March 3rd. Which, is probably better since it’s the weekend.
Unless there is some kind of “elderly parent” emergency, I’ll plan to check into the Holiday Inn Express on Friday night – do the evening shoot, and then I’ll assume it’s an all day affair on Saturday…until I can’t shoot anymore because I’m brain dead! LOL.
Either way I’ll keep you posted. I’ll send you a separate email re: questions I have about lenses, etc.
Kate
Kate, I’m looking forward to it. Keep me posted!

Denise, I can’t wait to see your images from the day. I wish I could make the trip, but unfortunately can’t. Have a great day!
Hi Denise,
I just happened upon your site, as a fellow photographer who is planning to photo this wonderful migration. I actually live in this area of Pennsylvania, so I can attest that they really do not exaggerate when they speak numbers. I was planning on possibly taking photos this same weekend.
Anyway, If you are in need of any suggestions or information about the area, please do not hesitate to ask. Enjoy your stay in PA!
April, I hope you can meet us out there. Thanks for the kind words!
Denise,
We are members of The Stay Focused Camera Club and Dave Woeller told us of your trip. We are looking forward to seeing you at Middle Creek & will look for you. We are going to stay at the Comfort Inn at Ephrata, not far away.
Lynn & Dick White
Hi folks, I appreciate Dave spreading the word and I look forward to meeting you both. They are calling for rain on Saturday and I will most likely be there on Friday morning and afternoon depending on the weather
