Paperwhites at Longwood

I wanted to create a new note card series and I find that most of my blank cards sell best with the exception of my “for you” series. To create the hand-written words I used the brush tool in Photoshop. I used a soft brush and made it very small and then wrote out the words “for you” in white (I don’t use a tablet, I use a trackball). To create the look of the card I started with an image of a Paperwhite that I captured at Longwood Gardens during the workshop that I conducted there last Sunday. I added a free texture overlay that I downloaded from Shadowhouse Creations. To apply the texture I used the “screen” blend mode and a layer mask in Photoshop to reveal some of the original. A few additional tweaks and I was done.

As one trackball user to another, very nice. The images have a lovely feel to them. BTW, you get an “A” for penmanshp. :~)

    Beautiful images, Denise.

U 2 amaze me..I can’t even use a trackball to surf the web without going insane!

These are both beautiful, but I especially like the first one. All that softness contrasting with the color of the stamens is wonderful.

How you managed the text in the second one with a trackball, I can’t even imagine.

    Double thanks Don!

Mary, Thank you. I have never been able to use a mouse 🙂

    Thanks Andrew! Much appreciated.

Carl, Thank you kindly, nice to hear from you!

Dennis, Thank you, the first one has hints of pink in the background that were from hot pink Kalanchoes- the texture softened the entire image up nicely! I use a trackball for all of my Photoshop work, so I guess I am just use to it 🙂

    Edith, Thanks so much!
