February 8th, 9th and today Canon conducted a Live Learning Workshop at Everglades National Park in South Florida. Arthur Morris was the featured Canon Explorer of Light and I was the happy co-leader :). We were joined by Canon tech specialist Drew MacCallum and Kristen Cunningham who manages the workshop program. Canon Digital Learning Center brought loads of cameras and lenses for everyone to borrow. We had a wonderful group of eager to learn participants. We also had our friend Geri George from Colorado along with us during our stay at the Everglades. We photographed each morning and evening at Anhinga Trail where the birds were plentiful. I was trying out my new (to me) EF Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS USM lens in the field all weekend. I was comparing the sharpness of the old EF Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS USM lens to the new version of the lens, both with and without a 2X teleconvertor. The lens is sharp!

  1. Yes, we had a great group. Love your two cattail blurs. With all those tame birds Anhinga Trail is a head hunters paradise. The bittern was a big plus. Thanks for all of your help.

Denise… Loved seeing your southern Florida birds… Love what you do… I am staying the winter just north of there…. If I had known…

But I have known about the SW FL IPT ’13, you are doing with Artie, which starts the end of this week… and I signed up for it last March, right after taking last years IPT… The IPT was THE BEST!!!

..which included meeting you!! For which I am very grateful…

So have a great week… and see you Friday!!

What wonderful images. You and Arthur have inspired this 72 year old photographer to look outside the box and what a wonderful field of view you both have given me. I work on blurs every day and the potential is limitless. My sincere thanks, Jim Egerton Vista Ca.
