The above image was captured at the Venice Rookery in Florida. It is an in-camera capture of the reeds at the rookery. The lines had a geometric look and I liked the high-key effect. I didn’t do anything special when photographing them, I just exposed all the way to the right on the histogram. In Photoshop I added a slight curve adjustment and used Fractalius to finish the look. Fratalius is a Windows only Photoshop Plug-in. Mac users can try VM Ware or Parallels to run Fractalius on their Macs. Andrew McLachlan and I have put together a user guide for Fractalius that will be available soon through the Birds As Art store.
The top featured image is a silhouette captured in the early morning at Venice Rookery.

Having the top bird singing along with the two on the left watching him is worth multiple bonus points! Very nice!
Hi Denise,
I’ve been enjoying your Fractalius effects. Is there a way to get that effect in Lightroom 4, or do you have to have the full version of Photoshop to get the plug-in?

Don, Thanks so much! I loved that top bird too.
Denise, Thanks so much! As far as I know Fractalius is only available for Windows.
Love, love the reeds….
Thanks Nancy!
Wonderfully captured and processed as usual Denise.
Thanks Len! See you soon!
