Join me, Denise Ippolito on a very fun and exciting photo tour to Vietnam in the Spring of 2018. We will be accompanied by an award winning professional photographer from Vietnam for the entire trip. He speaks English and will be on hand to assist us every step of the way. The images in the card above all belong to our guide- Son Nguyen. Son was recommended to me by one of my very favorite clients who has travelled to Vietnam with Son. This will be my first time visiting Vietnam and I am considering this a scouting trip. Who would like to join me on this unique opportunity to explore some of the many areas of Vietnam. I have included the itinerary below. This tour needs 8 to go.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 
HANOI – ARRIVAL [-/-/D]
Meet our professional photo guide on arrival in Hanoi / Noi Bai International airport by flight TBA, transfer to hotel for check in. Check in time: 14.00PM
Enjoy free time at leisure
Welcome dinner at hotel.

DAY 2 
HANOI – THO HA VILLAGE & CITY TOUR [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
After breakfast, we will go to see how the locals make a living at the village. After that, we will head back to Hanoi city to visit Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (closed on Monday & Friday, all afternoons), Temple of Literature, Tran Quoc Pagoda.
Lunch at local restaurant
Continue to explore Hanoi by a typical, safe and fun means of transport, Rickshaw or called locally “Xich Lo”.
Enjoy the Water Puppet Show indoor, a unique Vietnamese traditional art form, allowed to take a picture with your camera (but will pay 1 USD each).

DAY 3 
HANOI – HALONG [B/L/D]
Breakfast at hotel
Pick up at hotel in Hanoi and transfer 160 km east to Halong (approx. 4- hour driving). Upon arrival in Halong Bay, board our boat for an unforgettable cruise. Welcome seafood lunch on board.
Cruise in Halong bay visiting some islands and caves. Possibility of kayaking (optional) around some nice beaches.
Late afternoon, admire the sunset over the bay, enjoy happy hour on the bar deck or attend a cooking demonstration.
Dinner and overnight on board.

We recommend bringing additional spending money (in USD or Vietnam Dong) to pay for alcohol, drinks are not included.

DAY 4 
HALONG – HANOI – NIGHT TRAIN TO LAO CAI [BRUNCH/L/D]
Start the day with a Tai Chi class on sundeck.
Continue cruising the bay, visiting some other highlights.
Have a brunch before disembarkation.
Return to Halong wharf, disembark and transfer back to Hanoi.
Lunch box en route.
On arrival, having dinner at local restaurant.
Transfer to Hanoi train station for night train to Lao Cai, departure around 22.00 hrs.
Overnight on local train, private cabin (4-berth per compartment)

DAY 5 
LAO CAI –BAC HA MARKET – SAPA [B/L/D]
Early arrival in Lao Cai, get transfer to Le Bordeaux restaurant for breakfast only.
Visit Bac Ha market. Bac Ha is the largest Sunday market in the area as well as the most colorful one. Here we meet mostly Flower Hmong and then Phu La, Black Dao, Tay, Nung minorities. The market offers a variety of local products, which could not be found in other areas.
After shooting, have a lunch at the local restaurant.
Rest of day at leisure.
Dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 6 
SAPA – MUONG HUM – TA PHIN – SAPA [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
After breakfast, we will go to Muong Hum where you can see ethnic minority people wears different traditional dresses and explore their houses and village before getting back to the town. We can visit the local market in Sapa, just to look, no need shopping here.
Lunch at local restaurant.
Proceed to Ta Phin village, where we will easily recognized the Red Dzao and Black H’mong minorities by their wearing.
Get introduced to the villages, its landscape, life and traditions.
Return to Sapa town, rest of day at leisure.

DAY 7 
SAPA – BAN HO – NAM XAI – HANOI (BY EXPRESSWAY) [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
This morning, leave the hotel to Ban Ho & Nam Xai Village where we can see the Nung people wears different traditional dresses and explore their houses and village before getting back to the town.
Take time to admire the photogenic landscape, rice terrace.
Drive straight from Sapa to Hanoi by highway. It takes about 05-06 hours of driving. You will enjoy the view of the Vietnamese countryside along the road.
Having lunch en route at local restaurant.
On arrival, drop off at your hotel for relaxation.

DAY 8 
HANOI – HUE [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
Transfer to Hanoi / Noi Bai airport for morning flight to Hue.
(Takes 1 hour because this is domestic flight but we must be at the airport 2 hours in advance)
Flight: TBA – not included, these domestic flights are approximately $125.00 each and there are two of them in this itinerary.
On arrival, transfer to hotel in Hue for check in. Check-in time: 14:00 pm.
Go to shoot at the Imperial of Citadel, visit Tu Duc Tomb when we arrive in Hue.
Lunch at local restaurant
Rest at the hotel until later afternoon to capture the sunset at the Citadel

DAY 9 
HU E – DANANG – HOI AN [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
After breakfast, depart from Hue for Hoi An via the picturesque Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds) moving through many pretty red-tiled villages and enjoying a spectacular view of the sea and the sky.
We are going to see many small boats and big fishing nets on the way to photograph.
We are going to tour around in Hoi An ancient town when we arrive there. Just walking no car in town. We are going to take pictures of the sunset from a big fishing net when we are on the boat in the later afternoon.

DAY 10 
HOI AN – TIME AT LEISURE [B/L/D]
Hotel breakfast
Free time to discover the ancient town on your own.
(No vehicle, no tour).

DAY 11 
HOI AN – DANANG – HO CHI MINH CITY [B/L/D]
Wake up very early morning to take pictures at the colorful local market in Hoi An and will be back to the hotel for having breakfast.
And keep visiting the local merchant house were built more than 200 years ago, Chinese temple where the first chinese ancestor arrived in Vietnam.
Free last minute time to explore by yourself a bit before going to the airport in Danang for afternoon flight to Saigon
(the flight takes 1 hour but we must be at the airport 2 hours in advance).

Flight: TBA –this is the second domestic flight that is not included in the price it is approx. $125.00US
On arrival, pickup and transfer to hotel for check in.
Check-in time: 14:00 pm.

DAY 12 
HO CHI MINH CITY FULL DAY CITY TOUR [B/L/D]
Breakfast at hotel.
We’ll take pictures of the biggest post office in Indochina, the catholic church was built by the French since 18 century in Saigon, get more shots from the monks at the Buddhist pagoda when they study at their university in Saigon.
Lunch at local restaurant
Back to the hotel to rest until 14:00 pm to go out taking more shots many monks and the Buddhist followers to pray at the pagoda.
Dinner at local restaurant
After dinner, we’ll take pictures of the traffic jam in Saigon before our guide take you back to the hotel to rest.

DAY 13 
HO CHI MINH CITY – DEPARTURE [B/-/-]
Hotel breakfast
Free at leisure until check out. Check-out time: 12:00 noon
Transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for departure flight to next destination.
Flight Home: TBA – own booked

HOW’S THE WEATHER IN VIETNAM

SAPA: MARCH TO JUNE. SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER.
The cooler climate makes Sapa ideal when the weather is warmer and days are mainly sunny.

HANOI: YEAR ROUND.
Hot and humid in summer, cool and dry in winter.

HALONG BAY: MARCH TO JUNE, SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER.
Spring and autumn offer the best chance of warm days and clear sky.

HUE: JANUARY TO AUGUST.
Heavy rains in October and November and hot days from May to August

HOI AN: FEBRUARY TO JULY.
While the rest of Vietnam experiences summer downpours, Hoi An remains relatively hot and dry until July, perfect for a beach escape.

NHA TRANG: FEBRUARY TO AUGUST.
Warm year round, sunny days abound from February to August

DALAT: YEAR ROUND.
This alpine region is temperate year-round and ideal for escaping the summer heat.

SAIGON: YEAR-ROUND.
With balmy days year-round, afternoon downpours from May to November rarely affect touring.

DEPOSIT INFO:
A $2000.00 deposit is required to hold your spot for this tour. All deposits should be made via check made out to “Denise Ippolito”. Wire transfers accepted from overseas participants and participant is responsible for all transaction fees. In case there should be a major change (5% or above) in the exchange rates between the Vietnam Dong and the USD, (presently around VND 22,000 per USD), the tour company reserves the right to correct quotations in line with the revised value of the USD

    This sounds wonderful. I wish I could go but drat, June is the month for work conferences. You will have 8 people in a heartbeat. The price, compared to other photo tours to Vietnam, is fabulous.

    I am in Hue today….Rest day for Vets With a Mission medical training team. Will also be working with two large med treatment teams. Lots of great photo ops in Vietnam.
