While in Namibia I received a notice from BigPicture: Natural World Photography Competition saying that one of my images has been selected for the final round of judging, please supply the RAW file, bio, etc… Then as our Namibia tour was coming to a close I finally got on the internet and saw another email from BigPicture. The email started with this…
Congratulations! We’re delighted to inform you that your photo “Snow Globe” has been selected as the First Place “Winged Life” category winner for the BigPicture: Natural World Photography Competition!.
I was jumping for joy-literally! But I was also very proud to have been recognized and chosen in the bird category, especially for my “Snow Globe” (Snow Geese) image captured at Bosque del Apache, New Mexico on a 12 hour photo shoot in my first ever snow storm at the refuge.
I hope to make the awards ceremony in California later this year to accept this very prestigious award.
The image will also be featured in their upcoming book 🙂 .
This image holds a very special place in my heart. When I was in the field at Bosque capturing this image I was elated, I knew that I had something special–at least to me. I am honored that others felt it was special too.
