Greece 2019 Announced!!

After one of the most productive and fun workshops that I have ever conducted I am extremely happy to announce the 2019 Dalmatian Pelican Workshop in Greece. My last trip was filled with so many great photo opportunities from both the shore and from a small boat on Lake Kerkini. Our group had multiple chances to perfect their flight shots, portraits, wide angle shots and pleasing blurs. There was lots of time to experiment and there was never a shortage of great subjects willing to pose for us!

The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. It is not a large luxury hotel but rather a quaint, cozy lodge style atmosphere that made you feel as though you were stepping back in time. I loved the charm and ambiance and can’t wait to return to Greece were I felt like family.

Dalmatian Pelicans with Denise Ippolito ~ Greece
January 26-31, 2019 ~ 5 Nights Limit 8.

Photograph beautiful Dalmatian Pelicans in Northern Greece. Our hotel accommodations are located fifteen minutes from Lake Kerkini. This is a huge plus as we will be able to take advantage of great light at a moment’s notice. Lake Kerkini Greece is well known as one of the best locations to photograph Dalmatian Pelicans. This is a great time to use almost every lens in your gear bag. Wide angle shots, close portrait work, flight shots, creative blurs- you name it. Our expert guide knows the area like the back of his hand; he leads photography workshops for some of the most world renowned photographers.

About 100 pairs of Dalmatian Pelicans nest on specially constructed platforms inside the lake. They remain in the lake during the winter. During our time in Greece the Pelicans will be in their brightest and most impressive breeding plumage. Fishing is also allowed during this period and because of that it is much easier to get closer to the Pelicans. The flocks of Dalmatian Pelicans are often accompanied by single White Pelicans, Pygmy Cormorants and Common Cormorants.

In-the-field instructional photography sessions each morning and afternoon from the shoreline and also from a small boat. I have also arranged for additional time on the boats. Image review and post processing sessions will be informal; however there will be lots of information covered during the workshop.

If we get the chance we may also photograph the Melnik Pyramids in Bulgaria. It is approximately a one hour drive from our hotel. We will need to climb for 20 minutes to reach the lookout area and photography location. The views are beautiful and we will hope for fog or snow on the mountains. See the image below.
