Second Kenya Trip Added ~ 2018

Kenya, Masai Mara ~ African Safari with Paul McKenzie and Denise Ippolito
October 11- 19, 2018
/ 9 Nights, $6900.00
Limit: 7 photographers/ FULL WAIT

Paul McKenzie has been travelling to Kenya photographing wildlife, for over 20 years. His extensive knowledge of the area is unrivaled. Paul has put together one of the best photographic experiences in Africa. We will have a private flight charter so that all of our camera bags can be carried on board. We will have custom vehicles that are designed so that we can shoot out of the sides or standing, out of the top, and each person will have a row to themselves. This photo tour will be an amazing adventure with the very best guides and photographic opportunities.

If your vision of African wildlife is rolling savannah dotted with Acacia trees, hundreds of thousands of plains game and multitudes of big cats (cheetahs, leopards and lions), then prepare for your vision to become reality. The Masai Mara Game Reserve really is the pinnacle of all the world’s wildlife reserves. Simply put, there is nowhere on our planet that has the density and variety of wildlife, the level of predation and access as the Mara. As a consequence, the photographic opportunities can be spectacular. It’s no coincidence that if you look back over the last 20 years there are more winning and commended images in the Wildlife Photographer of the year competition from the Masai Mara than anywhere else. In Paul’s words “East Africa is a truly magical place that somehow gets under your skin and for me, Kenya is still at the summit.

To further maximize our opportunities, we are going at the best time of the year, i.e. to coincide with the annual Wildebeest migration. Beginning usually in July, upwards of one million Wildebeest enter the Mara along with some 300,000 Zebras and 100,000 other ungulates. These migratory animals join an already large resident population of plains game. The Cats are for the most part resident. The migratory animals come to the Mara in search of fresh grass and a permanent water source which the Mara has in abundance. So good are the pickings that the herds usually stay for 3-4 months. Our trip has been timed to avoid the large tourist crowds that descend on the Mara in August and early September.

We should expect to see and photograph multiple river crossings and crocodile attacks. We will photograph all three of the big cat species as well as Cheetah hunting and catching gazelles and Impala. If we are lucky, we may get to photograph Lions hunting. There is a high chance that we will find all three cat species with babies/juveniles. Hyena, jackals, and Bat-Eared Foxes are guaranteed, hopefully all with cubs. With luck we will get to photograph some of the smaller cat species: Serval Cats and Caracals. Elephant, Giraffe and Buffalo are also guaranteed.
