The Softer-Side of an African Safari September 14-24, 2026

After several requests for a gentler safari that focusses more on the intimate moments, rather than the harsh, brutal reality that is life on the Mara. My team and I have put together a special type of safari--a softer side, if you will, of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Some of you want a slower ride with the concentration of the group being centered on tenderness and beauty, while still celebrating the circle of life. During this safari series, we are not looking to capture all of the struggles to survive. We understand that these realities can be heart breaking to watch for some, so we have expanded our offerings to accommodate these requests.

On these tailored safaris, we will not compromise photography or species. But we will take our time to relax and smell the savannah as we roll onto each of our sightings Our main focus will be on the young and innocent or large groups of wildlife where interaction and connections can be captured. Open to only 5 participants.

Sundowners and more amenities in camp are a definite for this small group, refined safari.

For our very first Softer Side Safari, Donna Bourdon will be taking the lead. Her skills and pure joy for Africa and wildlife is infectious. Let her help you with your camera settings and be there every inch of the way to guide you to your perfect safari!

Itinerary:

Amboseli NP- Here we will concentrate on herds of elephants on the dry lake beds. We will also visit a conservation area where the last remaining big tuskers thrive.

Maasai Mara NR- Here we will photograph the vast savannah lands where herds of wildlife run free. We’ll also look to capture some of the big cats and cubs. Some of the species we should encounter:

Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebra, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Serval cats, Hyena, Jackals and let’s not forget the incredible bird life at both locations.

We will stay at 2 camps during our African adventure. Each camp will offer a different take on safari life. The first camp will be a genuine, private bush camp. Each tent will have its own ensuite bath/shower. Our outfitter will arrange a hot-air balloon ride for the group. We’ll also have our own private driver/guide. During our time in the Mara we will photograph in the morning and late afternoons— unless we have word of a Wildebeest crossing!!

Our second lodge is a bit more upscale. Our sleeping accommodation is actual villas with small balconies and ensuite baths. This location is laced with many creature comforts, including a full size dinner buffet, bar, plenty of outdoor lounging areas and even a coffee bar!
