It’s been a minute since I cruised Alaska’s inside Passage and now I’m headed back for a week long adventure. I can’t wait! I can feel the excitement building as I prepare for the journey. I’ll meet up with my friend Captain Ben Swanson, one of Alaska’s premiere boat captains. He’ll guide our group as we cruise through pristine Alaskan waters surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views. We’ll take time to enjoy every natural history sighting and photo opportunity along the way. I can almost smell the fresh air as I type.
One of my favorite photos from my last trip was a misty morning scene captured from the back of the yacht. I’m hoping to get a few more chances with those conditions. I wouldn’t mind photographing a few bears and eagles along the way either! Hey, if I’m putting in my order in, I’d love to photograph a few Tufted and/or Horned Puffin <wink>.
My friend Michael is joining me this time as he has never done the Inside Passage and was one of the first to sign up for the trip. Today we are flying Alaska Air from Newark NJ to Seattle where we’ll catch our last leg to Juneau Alaska.
Wish us luck.. I’ll be off the grid for most of my time in Alaska so if you have signed up for a workshop or sent an email with questions regarding an upcoming trip, or whatever- know that I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Update: We are in Juneau and spent the day hiking the Mt. Roberts trail via the Goldbelt tram. I took a few shots in between the rain. We’ll be getting picked up in a few hours to board the boat!!
