We photographed a male Cheetah that had its back leg opened up by a Pumbaa (aka Warthog ). Pumbaas can be very dangerous, they have long tusks that act like swords.
Our guide said that the Cheetah had tried to hunt the Pumbaa babies when he was stabbed by the adult. The wound on his leg was extremely deep and possibly life-threatening. Luckily for the Cheetah the conservancy doctors were able to clean the wound and stitch it, probably saving it’s life.
A close-up of the cut. Flies are already getting in the cut. *My guide provided me with the two cell phone photos of the surgery. I was so happy!
Thank you for saving this cheetah!!
