I just received the Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G lens from B&H, they sent me it as a loaner ( I may end up keeping it ), for my upcoming Patagonia trip. I heard some good things about it and I am going to see how it stacks up against the Sony 200-600mm lens that I am currently using. Both lenses have an internal zoom, so at least I won’t be giving that up—the internal zoom is one of my favorite features. With the additional 200mm worth of reach, weighing it at just over 5.45 lbs, it’s definitely a contender. Will I end up ditching my 200-600mm after using this one—time will tell, but the reviews are hinting that I just might! However, for the price (approximately 5k for both)—you may not need to part with either one!
