I wanted to share a triptych action from Gavin Hoey. It is not new, but I felt like sharing it anyway. The action can be found here.
The first thing I did was to find a photo that I felt would work well as a three piece image. I have always loved Caladiums with their vibrant colors and abstract look. While at Longwood Gardens, in the summer, I usually photograph lots and lots of Caladiums . I will be making a trip this August if anyone would like to join me for a small workshop, just shoot an email.
Anyway, once you download the action. BTW, downloading the action is easy-just click on it then open it and it should automatically load into your Photoshop actions. If you have trouble loading the action there are lots of YouTube videos that can help.
For this action, once I applied it, I added a drop shadow to each of the three panels. To do this I clicked on each individual layer and applied the drop shadow by going to Layer > Layer Style> Drop Shadow. Once the dialogue box opens I selected the values shown in the screen capture below. I repeated this for each layer. You can change these values to your liking. You do not have to even add a drop shadow to your triptych. I did because I felt it gave it some dimension for web viewing.
Finishing touches included cropping off a bit of the white framing and added a small black border so that you could see it better on my blog. If anyone creates a triptych, post it on Facebook and tag me on it so that I can see it.
